English Women's Football Pyramid Restructuring

FA Confirms Club Allocations for Tiers 1-6 in 2024

Rapid Growth Demands Expansion and Reform

The Football Association (FA) has announced significant changes to the Women's Football Pyramid (WFP), effective from 2024. These changes aim to accommodate the rapid growth and increasing competitiveness of women's football in England.

The WFP will now comprise 10 levels, with Tiers 1-6 undergoing major restructuring. Cardiff City and the now-defunct club remain the most successful Welsh teams competing in the English pyramid. The FA's confirmation of club allocations for these tiers indicates a shift towards a more equitable and sustainable women's football ecosystem.

The changes are designed to foster greater competition and provide a clear pathway for clubs to progress through the pyramid. The FA believes that these reforms will enhance the quality of women's football and create opportunities for more players and clubs to participate at the highest level.
