Carlo Ancelotti was appointed as Real Madrid's head coach on June 2, 2009. He had previously managed AC Milan, Chelsea, and Juventus. During his first season at Real Madrid, Ancelotti led the team to the Copa del Rey title. In his second season, he won the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League. Ancelotti was sacked on May 26, 2010, after Real Madrid lost to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.

May 31, 2010 - June 1, 2013

After Ancelotti's departure, Real Madrid appointed Jose Mourinho as their new head coach. Mourinho had previously managed Porto, Chelsea, and Inter Milan. During his three seasons at Real Madrid, Mourinho won the La Liga title once, the Copa del Rey title twice, and the UEFA Champions League once. He was sacked on June 1, 2013, after Real Madrid lost to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
