Legendary Journalist to Return to CBS News for First Time Since 2004

AUSTIN, Texas (April 28, 2024) - Legendary journalist Dan Rather will be honored with the prestigious SXSW Innovation Award at a ceremony scheduled for 6:00 pm on Monday, March 13, at the Austin Convention Center.

Rather, who anchored "CBS Evening News" for more than two decades, will be recognized for his groundbreaking work in journalism. The ceremony will be part of the larger SXSW Innovation Awards, which honor individuals and companies making significant contributions to the fields of technology, media, and entertainment.

Rather's return to CBS News for the first time since leaving in 2004 marks a significant moment for the network.
